SATA Group's Summer 2020 Operation

New routes and more inter-island frequencies reinforce the connectivity of the Archipelago of the Azores.

On SATA AZORES AIRLINES

  • Montreal / Terceira / Montreal is the new bet of the airline Azores Airlines between North America and the Azores and an additional possibility for those seeking to reach Europe from the American continent.
  • Terceira / Paris / Terceira is the new direct route between the Azores and Europe.
  • Boston / Terceira / Boston and Toronto / Terceira / Toronto are increased and reinforce the connectivity of Terceira Island.

On SATA AIR AÇORES

  • Increased frequencies for the islands of the Triangle (Faial, Pico, and São Jorge), as well as increased direct connections between Ponta Delgada and the islands of Graciosa and Flores.
  • Schedule readjustments to ensure better operational reliability and connectivity of the SATA Air Açores network with SATA Azores Airlines.

The IATA Summer 2020 operation on SATA Group airlines offers new alternatives on routes between North America and Europe and strengthens the connectivity of the Archipelago of the Azores, the main point of departure and arrival of SATA Group airlines' flights.

Concerning the IATA Summer 2020 offer, the airline Azores Airlines announces the Paris (Charles de Gaulle) - Terceira - Paris route to be operated on Wednesdays and Fridays.

This new route between the Azores and Europe will provide the connection between Paris and the cities of Boston, Toronto, and Montreal (with a stop on Terceira Island), to be operated between June and September.

To strengthen the connectivity in the Archipelago of the Azores, the schedules for the regular flights between Boston and Toronto and the Azores have been readjusted to allow more connections via São Miguel (Ponta Delgada) or via Terceira (Lajes).

It is now possible to board in Toronto, Boston, or Montreal and continue to Paris, Lisbon, Porto, Funchal, and Cape Verde via São Miguel or Terceira Island.

The recent code-share agreements established with WestJet and Air France*, as well as the existing interline protocols between Azores Airlines and Jet Blue, Alaska Airlines, and Porter*, allow for a wide range of passengers arriving in Boston, Toronto, or Montreal, to be able to continue their journey on Azores Airlines, thanks to the partnerships established.

But this is not all the news announced by the Azorean airline. Concerning flights between North America and the Azores, the offer between Boston and Terceira Island and between Toronto and the same island is increased, arriving this year at 3 (Boston / Terceira) and 2 (Toronto / Terceira) weekly connections, respectively.

In addition to these new routes, frequencies will be increased on domestic flights, in particular Porto / Terceira and Porto / Pico / Lisbon.

Concerning SATA Air Açores, there has been an increase in direct flights between Ponta Delgada and the islands of Graciosa, São Jorge, Pico, Horta, and Flores, and an increase in the capacity made available in the overall air traffic data by the continued use of a Bombardier Q400 aircraft on the routes most frequently operated by Bombardier Q200.

In the overall inter-island operation for the IATA Summer 2020, the airline expects to operate 202 weekly frequencies, including scheduled flights to the nine islands of the Archipelago of the Azores.

In addition to the increase in connections on some routes, reference should be made to the adjustment made to service timetables to make air operations more robust and to exceed the punctuality rate recorded. Also, the changes made have sought to make the offer of both carriers as compatible as possible by guaranteeing more connecting flights for passengers traveling between islands with SATA Air Açores and those traveling outside the archipelago on Azores Airlines.
