Azores Airlines delivered a strong performance on its routes between the Azores and Porto during the 2026 summer season, reflecting sustained demand and resulting in high load factors on services connecting São Miguel and Terceira with the city of Porto.
Results achieved show an average load factor of 90% on flights between Ponta Delgada and Porto, and approximately 80% on services between Terceira and Porto, highlighting the strong passenger demand recorded on these routes.
These results reinforce the strategic importance of Porto services within the airline’s network and support Azores Airlines’ continued investment in connectivity between the Azores and Porto. This commitment is already reflected in the airline’s plans for the upcoming IATA Winter 2026/27 season and will continue into the IATA Summer 2027 schedule.
As part of the IATA Winter 2026/27 program, commencing on 25 October, the Ponta Delgada-Porto-Ponta Delgada route will increase from 13 to 15 weekly frequencies, representing a 15.4% increase compared with the IATA Winter 2025/26 season. Available capacity will rise from 100,516 seats to 109,912 seats, corresponding to an increase of approximately 10%.
On the Terceira-Porto route, capacity during the IATA Winter 2026/27 season will increase from 23,392 to 29,400 seats, representing year-on-year growth of 25.7%. The operation will expand from three to four weekly frequencies, corresponding to a 33.3% increase compared with the previous winter season.
The planned schedule for IATA Winter 2026/27 and Summer 2027, which includes a 3% increase in capacity compared with Summer 2026, demonstrates the airline’s ongoing commitment to serving passengers travelling between the Azores and mainland Portugal throughout the year.
Through this increase in capacity, Azores Airlines is responding to sustained market demand, reinforcing the importance of its Porto services within the network and contributing to enhanced year-round air connectivity across the Region.
