SATA Group airlines partnered with Visit Azores for a destination promotion event in Vigo, Galicia, bringing together institutional representatives, travel agents and tour operators from across the Spanish market.
The initiative aimed to strengthen the visibility of the Azores among travelers in Galicia, while highlighting the Azores Airlines routes linking Porto with São Miguel and Terceira.
During the IATA Winter 2026/2027 season, these services will operate with increased frequencies compared with the previous winter schedule, offering a total of 19 weekly flights.
Vigo was chosen to host the event due to the strategic importance of the Galician market and its proximity to Porto's Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, from which Azores Airlines operates regular services to the Azores.
Separated by just 150 kilometers, Porto and Vigo belong to the same cross-border catchment area and offer significant potential to attract travelers from north-western Spain, a market with growing demand for nature-based tourism and authentic travel experiences.
Organized in partnership with Visit Azores, the event followed a workshop format, allowing tourism partners to present their products and services directly to travel trade professionals.
Participants were also invited to sample a selection of Azorean products, offering a taste of the destination's distinctive identity and cultural heritage.
Through initiatives such as this, SATA Group continues to support the promotion of the Azores in key growth markets, leveraging the connectivity provided by the Azores Airlines network to stimulate demand and strengthen awareness of the destination.
