Strike Affecting SATA Handling Services at Azores Airports
Period: October 21 to 27 (between 7:30 AM and 10:30 AM) and October 28 to November 3 (between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM)
Following a strike notice issued by the Aviation and Airport Workers' Union (SITAVA) and the National Union of Civil Aviation Workers (SINTAC), scheduled from October 21 to 27 (between 7:30 AM and 10:30 AM) and from October 28 to November 3 (between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM), disruptions to SATA Handling services at Azores airports are expected during these periods, which may affect the operations of SATA Air Açores and Azores Airlines.
To minimize any impact on travel plans, we are offering passengers the possibility to change their bookings in advance to flights operating outside the strike periods, between October 18 and November 10, without any additional charge, subject to availability at the time of rebooking.
Additionally, passengers are advised to:
- Opt, whenever possible, to carry only carry-on baggage, within the limits permitted by SATA Air Açores and Azores Airlines, available at https://www.azoresairlines.pt/en/information/baggage/carry-on-baggage
- Check in online beforehand at https://www.azoresairlines.pt
- Arrive at the airport early, complying with the recommended check-in times, and proceed to the boarding gate immediately after check-in. Check here (Check-in arrival times | Azores Airlines) for the recommended times.
SATA Air Açores and Azores Airlines regret any inconvenience caused by this situation. The SATA Group is closely monitoring the situation, making every effort to minimize the operational impact resulting from this situation, and reaffirming its commitment to the safety, reliability, and quality of service provided to its passengers.
We appreciate everyone’s understanding and cooperation.
