The SATA Group has activated a contingency plan following the strike notice issued by the SINTAC and SITAVA trade unions, affecting ground handling staff between 21 October and 3 November 2026.
The strike is scheduled to take place from 21 to 27 October, between 7:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., and from 28 October to 3 November, between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. During this period, and as a result, SATA Air Açores and Azores Airlines air operations may be disrupted. Flight delays and operational adjustments may occur, potentially impacting scheduled services.
Affected passengers may change their bookings without penalty fees or fare differences, provided the new travel dates take place outside the strike period. Travel may be rebooked on flights operating between 18 October and 10 November 2026, inclusively.
Passengers are also encouraged, whenever possible, to travel with carry-on baggage only, within the applicable limits. The airline further recommends completing online check-in and complying with the recommended airport arrival times for both check-in and boarding.
The SATA Group will continue to monitor the situation closely and take the necessary measures to minimize any impact on passengers. Updated information will be provided through the official communication channels of SATA Air Açores and Azores Airlines, including www.azoresairlines.pt.
