Azores Airlines started connections between New York and the Azores

 

The Azores Airlines Airbus A321LR landed at 08:40 am at João Paulo II Airport runway, Ponta Delgada, São Miguel Island, Azores.

On board were 169 passengers departing from John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK). The transatlantic flight lasted approximately four hours and forty-five minutes. During the flight, crew members served a light meal, complemented with some souvenirs of a flight that will always have a special meaning. In addition to the flight certificate and a special thanks for being part of this important moment in the history of the airline, passengers had the opportunity to start their travel experience in the Azores, even before setting foot on the destination. A Queijada da Vila - cheesecake from Vila Franca do Campo and unavoidable Azorean pastry - and a Licor de Maracujá - passion fruit liqueur and another flavor so typical of this region – were offered in a themed box with a beautiful image of Lagoa das Sete Cidades.

On land, most passengers with stay in São Miguel Island headed to the baggage claim area. But some continued their journey to other islands such as Terceira, São Jorge, Pico, and Flores. Others flew to Lisbon and Porto, in Portugal Mainland, and to international destinations such as Paris and Barcelona, ​​considering that the connection to New York offers multiple connectivity possibilities to those who choose Azores Airlines to fly. Flights between Ponta Delgada and New York are available until October 28, 2022, on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. The airline will complete these flights, as of June 20, with the offer of an additional direct connection between New York and Terceira Island on Mondays until September 5, 2022.
