The Azores are, without a doubt, a wonder of Nature very close to you. With a unique beauty, it is not by chance that this archipelago composed of nine Atlantic pearls has already been considered by National Geographic as one of the most beautiful and sustainable destinations in the world and holds two of the 7 Wonders of Portugal.
Lagoa Sete Cidades, on the island of São Miguel, and the Volcanic Landscape of Pico Mountain, on Pico island, were elected as two of the 7 Natural Wonders of Portugal. Close by were Lagoa do Fogo, on the island of São Miguel, Algar do Carvão, on Terceira island, and Furna do Enxofre, on Graciosa island.
The blue and green Lagoa das Sete Cidades is one of the most emblematic places in the Azores. From Vista do Rei viewpoint you can have an open view of this natural wonder and, a little further on, at Boca do Inferno viewpoint, it is possible to have a 360º view over Lagoa das Sete Cidades, Lagoa de Santiago, the bucolic village and the Atlantic on the horizon.
Its geological richness, the peculiarities of its vegetation adapted to adverse conditions, associated with its exuberant landscape, make Pico Mountain's volcanic landscape one of Portugal's 7 Wonders and one of the most beautiful volcanoes in the world.
Pico Mountain is Portugal’s highest point and is often covered with snow. It is the biggest attraction of this black basalt island, with which the walls of the currais present in the UNESCO Heritage and Protected Landscape of Pico’s Vineyard were built.
