SATA Air Açores informs that it will reinforce its fleet, between 15 June and 15 August, with an aircraft under an ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance) agreement, with the aim of ensuring the fulfilment of the scheduled flight programme and the planned capacity increases for the period of higher demand.
This decision follows delays in the entry into service of a new Bombardier Dash Q400 (DH4) aircraft, initially scheduled for 15 June. This postponement results from constraints identified in maintenance and aeronautical engineering works, within the context of widespread delays that have been affecting the aviation sector.
The new Bombardier Dash Q400 aircraft, whose entry into service is currently delayed, will join SATA Air Açores’ fleet on a permanent basis, strengthening the airline’s capacity and its ability to respond to growing demand throughout the year.
To ensure the continuity and robustness of inter-island operations during the peak summer season, the airline is therefore resorting to an ACMI arrangement, through the integration of a Bombardier Dash Q400 aircraft, with 78 seats, operated by Luxwing, a company with previous experience in the Azores archipelago.
As in previous operations, a SATA Air Açores cabin crew member will be on board to support the in-flight service.
