SATA Air Açores will increase its flight operations at various strategic times in the regional calendar, linked to festivities, cultural events and sporting events that engage the Azorean population and generate increased demand for inter-island travel. This expansion will see an additional 198 flights added to the more than 500 weekly flights operated by SATA Air Açores during the peak of the IATA summer season.
This planning is the result of close collaboration with local councils and other local authorities, enabling the early identification of periods when increased flight capacity is important for ensuring residents' mobility and supporting the islands' economic, social and cultural vitality. The airline will continue to monitor demand trends in order to provide an adequate and sustainable service.
Tiago Santos, chairman of the SATA Group, has emphasised the importance of close cooperation with local councils and economic stakeholders in order to anticipate mobility requirements and increase flight capacity wherever possible.
To this end, the Azorean airline is bringing forward the launch of additional flights and the availability of seats for booking, enabling passengers and businesses to plan their journeys further in advance with greater predictability.
The operational reinforcements have been planned primarily for the period between March and August, with flights operating every month and covering all the islands of the archipelago. These include events with strong regional traditions, such as the Easter period, as well as various rallies, sporting events (including trail running) and cultural festivals taking place during the summer months.
SATA Air Açores emphasises that this operational adjustment will be implemented in phases, in line with changes in demand, to ensure the efficient management of available capacity.
Detailed information on the additional flights and increased capacity will be released via the company’s communication channels as each period approaches. Passengers can book through the airline’s sales channels (website, ticket office and Contact Centre) or at travel agencies.
